Gospel Growers is a UK Christian children’s publishing and music brand founded by author and songwriter Jamie Barker.

Based in Nottingham, England, Gospel Growers creates Bible-based books, songs and resources designed to help children engage with Scripture, understand its message and remember what they learn.

Our aim is simple:
To help children grow up knowing the Bible for themselves.

We create resources for parents, families, homeschoolers, churches and Sunday schools who want engaging Christian material that points children back to the biblical text.

Why Gospel Growers exists

There are many wonderful Bible stories, books and songs available for children. But over time, Bible stories can sometimes become mixed with traditions, assumptions and details that are repeated so often that we begin to think they are actually found in Scripture.

At Gospel Growers, we want to encourage something different.

We want children to become curious about the Bible itself.

What does the text actually say?

What can we learn from it?

What does it teach us about God, faith, courage, obedience, hope and His purpose?

Our books and music are created with those questions in mind.

Rather than simply giving children another Christian story to consume, we want to encourage them to open the Bible, explore it and grow in their understanding of God's Word.

Our approach to Scripture

Being faithful to the Bible is at the heart of Gospel Growers.

When we create a direct retelling of a biblical account, we aim to remain as close as possible to what Scripture tells us and avoid presenting later traditions or assumptions as biblical fact.

Some Gospel Growers books take a different approach and use Scripture-grounded historical fiction. These stories may contain imagined characters, conversations or viewpoints in order to help young readers experience the world surrounding biblical events.

When we do this, the distinction matters to us.

The biblical events remain the foundation, while imaginative elements are used as storytelling tools rather than presented as Scripture.

We believe children are capable of understanding that difference — and that being clear about it helps them develop a deeper respect for the Bible.

Meet Jamie Barker

Hi, I’m Jamie Barker, the founder of Gospel Growers.

I’m an author and songwriter with a passion for creating resources that help children connect with the Bible in a way that is engaging, memorable and faithful to the text.

Gospel Growers grew out of a desire to produce material that children genuinely enjoy while continually pointing them back to Scripture.

That has led to the creation of Bible-based books for young readers, music for children and families, and resources designed to make biblical learning part of everyday life.

Whether I’m writing a story, developing a song or exploring a Bible passage, the question I keep coming back to is:
Will this help a child understand the Bible better?

That question shapes everything we create.

Books that bring the Bible to life

Gospel Growers books are designed to make biblical people, places and events accessible to young readers without losing sight of the source material.

Our growing collection includes stories connected with biblical accounts such as Daniel, Ruth, Esther and the journey of Israel from Egypt toward the Promised Land.

Some books closely retell the biblical record, while others use historical fiction to help readers imagine what it may have been like to live through the events described in Scripture.

Where imaginative storytelling is used, we want readers and parents to be able to understand clearly what comes from the Bible and what forms part of the creative narrative.

Bible-based music children can remember

Music has an extraordinary ability to stay with us.

That is why Gospel Growers also creates Christian music for children.

Through projects including Little Bible Heroes and Kingdom Kids, we create songs inspired by Bible stories, biblical themes and passages of Scripture.

Our hope is that children won't simply enjoy the songs today, but will carry biblical words, ideas and truths with them for years to come.
